I’m a girl that sees the world in its silly existence.

I believe the saying ‘Be true to yourself and you’ll be happy’. That and when somebody dear to me teaches me how to be “pasrah dan ikhlas”, two words that seems pretty simple but on the contrary it was hard to accomplish. Both terms are correlated, pasrah and ikhlas means you are bound to be true to yourself, accept who and what you are, and then you would be happy.

For me, to look for the answer I spend 5 minutes in front of the mirror and some ‘memory playback’. I used to have a big denial upon myself. I denied the eccentric curl of my hair, the dark tone of my skin color. I’m not in the state of being true to myself. I tried so hard to fit in, to look like the regular girl. But no matter how hard I tried I could never be like the rest of the girls in school. I will still be me, the dark skinned curly girl.

Silly me, it took me 24 years to finally be true to myself and realized that the curly hair looks nice with my hair, and my skin tone gives me certain glow. At 29  I’m perfectly happy the way I’m right now. The key you may ask? Pasrah dan ikhlas…and you’ll be happy with what you have in the present.
